講演題目：Molecular structure and reaction kinetics of neutral molecular complexes

講演概要: The study of the molecular structure and the reaction kinetics of neutral molecules and molecular complexes had to be carried out in an optimal isolated environment, using simple molecular systems and in dilute media. For that, rotational spectroscopy has been coupled to different isentropic expansion techniques. Thus, in the first part of the seminar, I will briefly introduce rotational spectroscopy coupled with supersonic expansion techinques, which has been widely used to determine the molecular structure of molecular systems in the gas phase. Starting with a general presentation of the technique and its experimental features, I will show all its possible applications by means of practical case studies. This part will be mainly oriented to molecules and molecular complexes of biological interest. In the second part of the seminar, I will speak about how, by coupling rotational spectroscopy with the CRESU (Cinetique de Réaction en Ecoulement Supersonique Uniforme) technique, it is possible to study the kinetics of reactive collisions in dilute media. I will show how this approach has been employed to study the kinetics of formation of dimers, specially heterodimers, and other applications with special interest in astrochemistry and atmospheric science. In the last part of the talk, I will speak about the gas source of pulsed droplet bead laser desorption technique that is being developed in my current laboratory and the perspectives of coupling it with different spectroscopic techniques in order to study the molecular structure of biological molecules and hydrated complexes.
